The Huawei Mate 70 flagship smartphone series will launch this month. That much has been confirmed by Huawei Consumer Business Group Chairman, Yu Chengdong.

The Huawei Mate 70 series will launch this month

Do note that the phone will launch in China first, however. It is expected to make its way to global markets, though. The rumored timeframe is mid-November, after the Double 11 sale. Digital Chat Station claims it will be November 19 in a fresh rumor.

The company is expected to deliver four Mate 70 models to the market. The Huawei Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro+, and Mate 70 Ultimate Design are all expected to arrive.

What’s very interesting about these devices is that they won’t ship with Android OS. Well, at least in China. Huawei announced its Android-free OS, HarmonyOS NEXT, quite recently. The Mate 70 series will be first to ship with it.

A 5nm processor is expected, along with an XMAGE camera setup

The Huawei Mate 70 series is also expected to ship with Huawei’s brand new Kirin chip, a 5nm processor. That chip is expected to be made on a 5nm process, further closing the gap. We’re already seeing 3nm chips, though, so SMIC and Huawei are still a couple of generations behind.

The Huawei Mate 70 series is tipped to include an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. It will be placed under the display, of course. Do note that some versions may have a side-facing fingerprint scanner instead, though.

A powerful XMAGE camera setup is expected on the phone too. A circular camera island is tipped to be included on the back. The Mate 70 series phones have allegedly already started arriving to Chinese stores.

It’s also worth noting that Huawei could announce 8 new products this month overall. In addition to the Mate 70 series, the Mate X6 foldable could arrive, a new 13-inch tablet, the next-gen FreeBuds Pro, and more.
