Punjab CM undergoes heart-related tests; Decision on discharge after results

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been admitted to Fortis Hospital, Mohali, for over 24 hours, where he underwent a series of heart-related tests and examinations. Initially visiting the hospital reportedly for a routine check-up, the Chief Minister was advised by doctors to remain under medical observation after certain concerning results were detected during his initial evaluation on late Thursday evening.

Dr RK Jaswal, Director and Head of the Department of Cardiology at Fortis Hospital, on Friday revealed that Mann’s pulmonary artery had shown signs of increased pressure, putting undue strain on his heart, leading to fluctuations in his blood pressure.

Despite these findings, Dr Jaswal has assured the public that the Chief Minister’s vitals are stable, and Mann is responding well to the ongoing treatment. “We are currently awaiting the results of a few more tests conducted on his heart, after which a decision will be made regarding his discharge,” Dr Jaswal informed. He added that further medical decisions will be taken only after the complete test results are available, and there is optimism for Mann’s speedy recovery.

According to the medical team, the primary issue identified in Mann’s case is an increased pressure in the pulmonary artery, a condition that can lead to complications if not managed effectively. The swelling in one of the arteries in his lungs has been causing strain on his heart, resulting in irregular blood pressure readings. This type of pressure imbalance can affect heart function and is typically treated through medication and careful monitoring.

Dr Jaswal explained that such conditions are not uncommon and can be managed with timely medical intervention. “Chief Minister Mann has been very cooperative with the treatment, and we are optimistic that the ongoing care will stabilize his condition,” he stated.

Further tests, including blood and heart examinations, have been conducted, and the medical team is waiting for the results before determining the next steps in his treatment. Mann’s health has become a subject of significant public interest, with many hoping for his swift recovery.
