Ireland Weather: Strange temperatures could last for weeks as Met Eireann picks date when everything could change
by Andrew E Quinn · Irish MirrorRare milder conditions are set to continue across much of Ireland for at least another two weeks, according to Met Eireann.
In an update to its extended range forecast on Tuesday, Met Eireann weather experts said it is set to "stay quite mild" with "temperatures signalled to be above normal" through to the middle of November.
The recent mild and dry weather across Ireland is in stark contrast to the severe flash flooding and storms that have devastated parts of southeast Spain in recent days.

The flooding in the Spanish city of Valencia is so severe that the authorities there have issued guidelines on how to escape safely from a vehicle submerged in water to residents.
Ireland weather expert, Alan O'Reilly, of Carlow Weather, told his followers on X that the milder weather that's forecast for Ireland is a opportunity not to be missed by the authorities.
"With high pressure keeping most of the rain away for at least a week it is a great time for people and local authorities in Ireland to clear drains and be ready for a risk of flooding this coming winter," said Alan.
Meanwhile, the weather forecast for Halloween night for most of Ireland is set to be dry, mild with a lot of cloud cover.
"Mostly cloudy on Thursday night, with a few patches of light rain or drizzle, mainly in Ulster and north Connacht. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees in light southwesterly breezes. A few mist and fog patches will develop as the night goes on," said Met Eireann.
Met Eireann Extended Range Forecast:
Week 1 (Monday November 4 to Sunday November 10)
Week 1 is signalled to be largely settled. High pressure to our east and northeast will dominate Ireland’s weather. This will result in often dry conditions with rainfall amounts likely to be below average, though occasional outbreaks of rain are still possible. A southerly or southeasterly airflow will lie across Ireland, so it will also stay quite mild with temperatures signalled to be above normal. Frost by night is less likely as a result. Given the time of year, mist and fog may also develop under these conditions.
Week 2 (Monday November 11 to Sunday November 17)
High pressure is signalled to remain the dominant feature of our weather during week two, with settled conditions persisting as a result. While occasional outbreaks of rain are still possible, overall rainfall amounts are likely to be below average. It will also stay milder than average, which will lower the likelihood of night time frosts.
Week 3 (Monday November 18 to Sunday November 24)
Confidence decreases in week 3. Current signals indicate that high pressure will decrease southwards, allowing a more westerly airflow to become established over the country. This may allow Atlantic frontal systems to affect the country at times, with rainfall amounts possibly higher than average in Atlantic coastal counties. Elsewhere, rainfall is signalled to be near average, or slightly below in the south and southeast. Temperatures will remain just above average but night time frosts cannot be ruled out.
Week 4 (Monday November 25 to Sunday December 1)
There is a large degree of uncertainty in week 4 but indications suggest that high pressure to Ireland’s south will maintain a westerly airflow over the country. Some spells of rain will spread from the Atlantic at times, leading to slightly above average rainfall over the western half of the country with rainfall amounts closer to average elsewhere. Temperatures will remain just above average.
