Anne Hathaway and Zendaya Join Cast of Christopher Nolan’s Next Film
Matt Damon and Tom Holland are already reported to lead the untitled Universal film.
by Brian Welk · IndieWireChristopher Nolan‘s next film is getting even more star-studded. Anne Hathaway and Zendaya are set to join the cast of Nolan’s next movie set at Universal, IndieWire has confirmed.
Tom Holland and Matt Damon are already set to lead the film, which is untitled and has plot details so far kept tightly under wraps. The film is, however, meant to arrive in theaters on July 17, 2026 in IMAX.
Universal had no comment on the casting.
This is set to be Nolan’s 13th feature and his second with Universal after he won Best Picture with “Oppenheimer.” The hope is that the film will begin shooting in early 2025. Nolan is writing, directing, and producing, and his partner Emma Thomas is also producing via their Syncopy banner.
Zendaya has been more in demand than almost anyone in Hollywood. This year, she had “Dune: Part Two” and “Challengers,” and she’s soon set to shoot the third season of “Euphoria,” and she’ll have “Spider-Man 4” alongside Tom Holland on tap at some point.
Hathaway is a Nolan veteran, starring in “The Dark Knight Rises” and “Interstellar,” the latter of which also starred Damon. This year, she appeared in “The Idea of You” and “Mothers’ Instinct.” She’ll soon be seen in David Lowery’s “Mother Mary” and in David Robert Mitchell’s “Flowervale Street,” both in post-production. Soon, she’ll also reprise her role as Mia in “The Princess Diaries 3” and potentially in a “The Devil Wears Prada” sequel.
Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” nearly cracked $1 billion at the box office. Though Warner Bros. tried to woo him back, the risk Universal was willing to take with “Oppenheimer” and the freedom they promised him won his allegiance. However, Universal has still not formally confirmed the new project.
Deadline first reported the news of Zendaya and Anne Hathaway’s casting.
