Samsung Galaxy A22 4G and 5G renders and specs emerge

by · Gizchina

Samsung changed the philosophy behind its mid-range and low-end smartphones when it decided to bring some features that were only available on flagships to these two categories. Nowadays, the company is achieving good numbers in the mid and low-end segment thanks to the decent smartphones coming under Galaxy A and M-series. For this year, the company wants to give a step further by introducing more 5G smartphones under its affordable categories. The company already unveiled a bunch of 5G smartphones such as the Galaxy A52 5G, A72 5G, and M42 5G. Now, the company will bring its cheapest ever 5G smartphone in the form of Galaxy A22 5G which will come alongside a Galaxy A22 4G.

The new devices are rumored to appear in June, and as usual, we already have the specifications to look at along with some press renders. The devices are largely identical in design and come in four colorways – White, Black, Purple, and Mint.

The major differences will be in cameras, displays, chipsets, and biometrics. The 5G model will come with a triple-camera setup. It includes a 48MP main camera, a 5MP camera likely for ultrawide shots, and a 2MP possibly for macro or depth sensing. The Galaxy A22 5G is also a little bit thicker and heavier than its 4G sibling. It has a 9mm thickness and 205 grams weight whereas the A22 4G has 8.5 mm and 185 grams. Under the hood, the Galaxy A22 5G will pack a Dimensity 700 chipset.

The Galaxy A22 is less impressive in terms of performance since it comes with a MediaTek Helio G80. At this point, this chipset is starting to get a little bit old. Anyway, it comes with a 6.4-inch display, and apparently, we have an AMOLED panel this time around. The device has a regular side-mounted fingerprint scanner which suggests a built-in optical fingerprint scanner. At this point, there is simply no excuse for not bringing a fingerprint scanner, so we assume that it is really built into the display. The device has a Quad-Camera array comprising a 48MP primary, 5MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth module.

Both smartphones come with a huge 5,000mAh battery with 15W charging. We assume they have a USB-C port and Android 11-based One UI 3.1 straight out of the box. Moreover, we expect both devices to have HD+ resolutions at the very least, but we’re not expecting a high-refresh-rate display.

Samsung may unveil both devices in June, we expect more leaks to surface in the coming days.
