The United States Air Force deployed B-2 Spirit stealth bombers to conduct airstrikes against Houthi rebel positions in Yemen on Wednesday night.

The strikes hit hardened underground facilities housing advanced conventional weapons, missiles, and munitions used by the Houthis to threaten international shipping in the Red Sea, Bab Al-Mandeb Strait, and Gulf of Aden.

Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III said the strikes targeted underground facilities that store various weapons components that Houthis use against civilians

The United States has carried out precision airstrikes targeting underground weapons storage facilities in Houthi-controlled regions of Yemen, amid the ongoing crisis in the Middle East. The US Department of Defense confirmed that military forces struck five underground weapons storage sites used by the Iran-backed Houthis.
