Nuno answers Chris Wood contract question as Nottingham Forest ace shown 'huge respect'
by Sarah Clapson · NottinghamshireLiveTalk about Chris Wood’s future will not distract the in-form front man from continuing to do his job for Nottingham Forest, according to Nuno Espirito Santo.
The Reds are in discussions with Wood over a new deal as his current one is due to expire at the end of the season. If all goes to plan, a fresh contract of up to two-and-a-half years could be in the offing for the New Zealand international.
The talks come amid a real purple patch for the 32-year-old. His well-taken brace in last Friday’s 3-1 win over Leicester City took him to seven goals for Forest so far this season.
A hot-streak of four goals in three games has seen Wood nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for October. Head coach Nuno has given little away about the forward’s contract situation but says there is “huge respect” at the City Ground for the work he has been doing.
“Nothing changes,” Nuno said when asked about the potential of a new deal for Wood. “Chris is OK, he is doing fantastic for us - this is what is more important; what it means to have him in the team, his goals, his work. All things will happen naturally.
“Nothing has changed. He is doing well.
