Danilo and Ibrahim Sangare injury latest as Nottingham Forest return 'on track'
by Sarah Clapson · NottinghamshireLiveNottingham Forest hope to receive an injury boost towards the end of the year as midfielders Danilo and Ibrahim Sangare are “on track” with their recoveries.
The pair have been long-term absentees for the Reds, having both missed a chunk of the early part of the season. It is hoped they could return to training around Christmas, although it is likely they will still need some time to build up their fitness before they are back out on the pitch.
Brazilian Danilo has been absent since the opening day of the season. Just eight minutes into the new campaign, he suffered a broken ankle when he landed awkwardly after challenging for the ball in the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth.
He underwent surgery soon afterwards and had to wear a knee-length boot for a time. It is hoped the fact he suffered a clean break should help with his recovery.
Sangare was also required to go under the knife. He had an operation for a hamstring problem on the same day as his teammates were beating Liverpool, September 14. He sustained the injury prior to the September international break and the severity of it was picked up in tests when he was back at the club after leaving the Ivory Coast camp.

“They are getting better day by day,” head coach Nuno Espirito Santo said. “They don’t stop working because they do treatment and work on other fitness aspects. They are both on track.”
Nuno said the Reds will “assess” the fitness of Morgan Gibbs-White, Elliot Anderson, Chris Wood and Jota Silva ahead of Saturday’s clash with West Ham United (3pm kick-off). Forest will definitely be without Hammers loanee James Ward-Prowse as he is ineligible to feature against his parent club.
