Hollywood actor Dame Maggie Smith died on September 27 at the age of 89 following a prolonged illness. The Oscar-winning star, best known for her roles as Professor Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter series received a moving tribute from fans at the Universal Orlando resort.

The heartbroken Potterheads expressed their grief as they gathered outside the Universal Orlando resort to raise their wands in tribute to the actor. This touching moment occurred at the entrance of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal's Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Florida.

Smith’s sons, Chris Larkin and Toby Stephens, said in a statement that Smith died early Friday in a London hospital.

Smith was frequently rated the preeminent British female performer of a generation that included Vanessa Redgrave and Judi Dench, with a clutch of Academy Award nominations and a shelf full of acting trophies.
