You shouldn't leave the house without an umbrella this morning

Don't forget to bring an umbrella with you this morning as Ireland is facing plenty of rain this Tuesday, October 15.

The east and south of the country will experience the heaviest downpours this afternoon as the rain spreads northwards over Ireland in what will be quite a mild day.

The rain will continue to be heavy in the east and northeast into tonight and Met Eireann has even suggested that there is a risk of thunderstorms in those areas.

Wednesday should be a calmer day as sunny spells are forecast amidst just scattered showers.

A Met Eireann spokesperson said: "This morning will start mostly cloudy with patches of mist and drizzle. Later in the morning, rain will move into the south and will spread northwards across the country during the afternoon and evening. The rain will be heavy at times, particularly in the south and east. Mild and humid with highest temperatures of 14 to 16 degrees, in a light to moderate southeasterly wind, occasionally fresh and gusty later.

"Tonight will be cloudy with outbreaks of rain, heavy for a time in the northeast and east with a chance of isolated thunderstorms. There will be hill and coastal mist and fog too. Mild and humid with lowest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees, in a light to moderate southeasterly wind, occasionally fresh and gusty early in the night.

"Tomorrow morning will be mostly cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain. This will linger in parts of the north and east through the day, but there will be a clearance to sunny spells and some showers across the south and west. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees with light to moderate southerly winds."
