Last year, it was reported that The Weeknd had been working on a film with Ortega and Keoghan. At the time, the film had yet to receive a name, but has now been revealed via a Deadline report to be “an extension” of his upcoming album, similarly titled ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’.
Per Deadline‘s report, the film has already been shot and will also star The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye). The film will reportedly be a psychological thriller, and was directed by It Comes At Night filmmaker Trey Edward Shults.
Deadline also reports that The Weeknd worked on the film’s score alongside Daniel Lopatin, aka Oneohtrix Point Never, who previously worked with Tesfaye on his 2022 album ‘Dawn FM’ and remixed the title track.
The Hurry Up Tomorrow film has yet to receive a release date, but is set for global distribution through Lionsgate.
Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said in a statement to Deadline: “Abel is a visionary whose art cannot be confined by any single medium. With Hurry Up Tomorrow, in partnership with Trey, his musical universe expands onto the big screen with a psychological thriller that will usher in a new cinematic experience for fans. We are thrilled to be bringing it to audiences worldwide.”
